Effective date: October 13, 2026
This policy explains what personal information Neekore LLC ("we", "us") collects when you use the Office Silkie apps (Silkie Write, Silkie Sheets, Silkie PDF and the Office Silkie installer, the "Software") and our website at https://officesilkie.com (the "Website"). It also explains how we use that information and the choices you have.
The short version
- Your documents never leave your PC. The Software does not upload, read remotely, or scan your files, and we never receive them.
- No ads, no tracking, no selling. The Software has no advertising, no usage analytics, and no telemetry. We do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising.
- The Software contacts our server only to run your trial and license and to check for updates. It sends a small amount of technical information (listed below), not your content.
1. Information we collect
1.1 From the Software
When the Software starts a trial, activates or checks a license, or looks for updates, it sends our server:
- An anonymous PC identifier. This is a code made one-way from Windows' own machine identifier. It tells us "this is the same PC as before" without revealing the Windows identifier itself.
- Your PC's name, as set in Windows (for example "DESKTOP-4F2K" or "Sam's laptop"). We show it in your account so you can tell your PCs apart. You can change your PC's name in Windows Settings.
- Which app and version you are using.
- Trial and license status, such as when your trial started, which License is active on the PC, and when it was last checked.
To connect to our server, your PC also sends its IP address, as every internet connection does. Our server uses it briefly to protect itself from abuse, for example by limiting repeated requests, and does not store it in its records. Our hosting provider's network logs may keep it for a short time (see Section 4).
The Software does not send us your documents, file names, file contents, what you type, how you use the features, crash reports, contacts, or your location.
1.2 Stored only on your PC
Some information stays on your PC and is never sent to us. This includes your documents, recent-file lists, settings, saved signatures, personal dictionary words, and the local record of your trial and license. Spell checking happens on your PC, using Windows' built-in spell checker or dictionary files. For some languages, the app may download a dictionary file from a public content server, which Google operates for the Chromium spell checker. The text you type is never sent to us.
1.3 When you buy or sign in on the Website
- Contact and account details: your email address, and your name if you give it.
- Order details: what you bought, the price, the date, the order number, your License and the PCs it is active on, and your subscription status and renewals.
- Payment details are collected by our reseller or payment processor (named at checkout), not by us. We receive only limited details, such as your country, the type of card, and its last four digits. We never receive or store your full card number.
- Records of your agreement: which version of our terms you accepted and when. For subscriptions, we also keep your agreement to the renewal terms.
1.4 When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to send, for example a description of a problem or a file you decide to attach.
1.5 Cookies
The Website uses only the cookies it needs to work, such as keeping you signed in and running checkout. It does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and it does not use analytics.
2. How we use information
We use the information above to:
- run trials, activate and check Licenses, and move Licenses between PCs;
- deliver downloads and updates;
- prevent fraud, abuse, and unlicensed use, including repeated trials on the same PC;
- process purchases, renewals, refunds, chargebacks, taxes, and accounting;
- send messages about your orders, such as receipts, renewal reminders, and cancellation confirmations, and important notices about the Software or our terms;
- answer your questions and give support;
- keep our systems secure and fix problems; and
- comply with the law and enforce our terms.
We send marketing emails only if you have agreed to receive them. Each one has an unsubscribe link.
Legal bases (European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Switzerland). We process personal information to perform our contract with you, which covers trials, Licenses, updates, purchases, and support. We also process it for our legitimate interests in preventing fraud and unlicensed use and in keeping our systems secure, to comply with legal obligations such as tax and accounting, and, for marketing emails, with your consent.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only:
- With service providers who help us run the business and who may use it only for that purpose. These are our hosting provider, our reseller or payment processor (named at checkout), and our email provider.
- When the law requires it, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of you, us, or others, for example in response to a valid court order.
- In a business transfer. If our business, or part of it, is sold, merged, or moved to a company we form, the information goes with it, under this policy.
- With your consent.
4. How long we keep information
- Trial records (PC identifier, PC name, trial dates): up to 3 years after the PC last contacted us, to prevent repeated trials.
- License, order, and agreement records: while your License is active, then for 7 years for tax, accounting, and legal purposes.
- Network logs at our hosting provider, including IP addresses: usually no more than 30 days.
- Support emails: up to 2 years after the conversation ends.
When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.
5. Security
We protect information with encrypted connections (HTTPS), digitally signed license records, limited access, and by collecting as little as possible. No system is perfectly secure. If a security breach affects your personal information, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
6. Your choices and rights
For everyone. You can ask us at support@officesilkie.com to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to give you a copy, to correct it, or to delete it. We answer within 30 days, or within the time the law of your place gives, if shorter. We may need to confirm your identity first, for example by email. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.
Some things to know:
- If we delete your License records, we can no longer restore or move your License. We may keep order and agreement records that the law requires us to keep.
- To stop the Software from contacting us, uninstall it. Your documents stay on your PC.
California residents. You have rights under California law to know what personal information we collect and how we use and disclose it, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of. We honor Global Privacy Control signals all the same. You can use an authorized agent to make a request. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing.
Do Not Track. We do not track you across other websites, so browser "Do Not Track" signals do not change how the Website works.
European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland. You have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, or port your personal information, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. You may also complain to your data protection authority.
7. Children
The Software and Website are not directed to children under 13, or under 16 in the European Economic Area and United Kingdom. We do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. International transfers
Our servers are in the United States. If you are elsewhere, your information is transferred there. For information from the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we use safeguards the law recognizes, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, where they are required.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the new version on this page with a new effective date. If a change is material, we will tell you in advance by email or in the Software.
